Hackers Compromise Fox Sports Website According to a warning released by security researchers, the Fox Sports website, an integral part of the Fox Broadcasting Company, has gone under the control of unknown hackers. The hackers injected malware inside the 'custom error' section of the site. Two different malicious codes have been found, each as a result of a different infection. The ThreatSeeker Network of Web-security Company 'Websense' detected the infected page. Having analyzed the dubious web-link, security researchers discovered that it led to a custom document named "Page Not Found," which exhibited itself in the case of 404 fault. The company states that the first malicious code installs another code, which is associated with an external domain used by cyber criminals earlier. Specifically, it is the most recent Gumblar scam, where the Gumblar web-page appears extremely confusing. However, when unraveled, this page utilizes Flash and PDF exploits for malware execution so that the victim's PC can be unlawfully controlled. Moreover, a piece of Visual Basic Scripting (VBScript) is run for downloading malicious software. |
